Brockhoff 11th overall

Belle Brockhoff 11th in the world

Our girl Belle Brockhoff may have missed a medal chance after she crashed out in the semi-finals of the women’s snowboard cross but what she did in the small final was nothing less than golden.

We could see she was close to tears as she waited to begin the small final.

Her self belief and phenomenal mental strength carried her through to the end of the course, coming in at 5th and taking out 11th spot overall.

Dave Morris

Australia’s first male Aerial Skiier, Dave Morris makes his third Winter Olympic campaign tonight and should be watched for more than one reason.

“I have retired 3 times now. So if I'm still here; I can't be trusted."

Determination and character – Dave has both in bucket loads and we will see him put it all into action when the Men's Aerials qualifications kick off from 10pm on day 8, with the finals the following night.

Snowboard Cross AussiesWhat an exciting day of competition today.

In the Snowboard Cross, the Aussies started the day really strong with Cam Bolton, Alex Chumpy Pullin and Adam Lambert qualifying directly through from the first seeding round.

The Women's aerials was another tale of disappointment and triumph that left us gasping.

Laura Peel, Dual Olympian Aerialist“Aerial Skiing is an extreme sport. It takes 3 seconds, you’re skiing at 60km/h, you’re 10m high in the air but when you come off that jump and you hit that perfect take off, it's like time freezes.”

And its in that moment that soon to be two time Olympian Laura Peel finds both her calm and her fire.

We are definitely looking forward to seeing Laura and her teammates, Lydia and Dani fly high in the women’s qualifications tonight at 10pm AEDT at Phoenix Snow Park.

To tide you over, here is a recent interview with Laura at XTM house.

[Interview] Olympic Snowboard Cross rider Cam Bolton

14 February 2018 5:12:55 pm AEDT

Cam BoltonAussie boarder cross dual Olympian Cam Bolton and his team mates Chumpy, Adam Lambert and Jarryd Hughes will hit the snowboard cross track at the Bokwang Pheonix Park tomorrow.

The forecast for the event is hopeful with gusty conditions that have reaked havoc on athletes at the beginning of this week expected to ease but no doubt the guys will be toying with strategies to make the most of the course.

Pete caught up with Cam down at XTM house in Torquay for a pre-Games chat to find out more about what makes him tick - what it was like deciding to ride after just breaking his wrist at his last games, whether breaking his back ever made him rethink his life choices, oh yeah, and budgy smugglers...
