The vital travel checklist for your next snow trip

Preparing for a snow trip is one of the most exciting things to do! Actually booking the holiday was awesome, but putting together the travel checklist for your next snow trip is what really and truly gets you in the mood.

It can be very easy to get lost in the excitement though, and forget one or two things. Like, have you ever left for the airport only to realise once you arrived that you forgot your passport?? I know I have!

If you are worried that you might forget something ridiculously important (because it’s always the little important things we forget) let’s take a look at our travel checklist for your next snow trip.

Skis / Snowboard

Yes, your skis or snowboard are probably pivotal if you’re going on a snow trip. Yet because they’re so obvious, they can also be easy to forget. If you’re planning on renting these when you arrive you can skip this one, otherwise tick it off…

The sun in winter is perhaps the most piercing of all suns. It can blind you in a millisecond if you’re not careful. To make sure you don’t do any damage on this vacation, tick this one off the travel checklist for your next snow trip.

GlovesQuality snow gloves

Ever seen someone sliding down the slopes without gloves? We have, and it doesn’t look like a whole lot of fun! Only a crazy person would do that. And since you’re not crazy, tick this one off.

Eek! You don’t want to be getting out on those slopes without your helmet fastened to your head. To make sure that you’re going to be totally safe on this holiday, check this one off your list. As an added bonus to the extra safety helmets offer, they’re also super comfy and warm these days, and many even come with the latest technology like Bluetooth built in, bonus!

Because you just never know when you’re going to get caught in a blizzard, do you? Make sure they’re a reliable double lens pair that’ll last you through the trip.

Take a few! A different scarf for each outfit??? Match them up… We could be onto something here. You should also take a balaclava or face mask which are your best friend when the temperature drops below freezing!

Merino wool thermal socksNon-Slip Snow Boots

It can be very easy to slip on the snow and ice. Very easy! Before you know it, you’re flying through the air like an airplane and crashing like one too. Not cool, or smooth! A solid pair of apres snow boots is essential in icy conditions. Make sure you’ve got a few pairs of insulating merino wool socks for the adventure too, your feet need some love.

Airline Tickets

This one is crazily important. No airline tickets, no snow trip. What a waste of money! BOOOOOOO!! Stick it in your travel wallet now along with your passport and backup copies of your ID. It’s always a good idea to email these to yourself too so you can access them in the worst case scenario.

Travel Vouchers

Not essential, but if you’ve got ‘em, pack ‘em.

Foreign Currency

Unless you want to starve in a foreign country, because your Australian currency won’t cover you all over the globe unfortunately mate. It’s always handy to stash some in a couple of different spots just in case…

Snow Jacket & PantsWaterproof, breathable snow jacket

Wet snow literally soaks through to your skin, and the wind chill on the mountain can be bone chilling! If you forget this one, you can expect an onset of pneumonia within hours. So proper snow gear with a high waterproof/windproof rating is vital. You might as well throw in some merino thermals too, layering is the best way to keep yourself comfortable in all conditions.

Imagine getting trapped in an avalanche with a phone that has 2% battery left? Always remember chargers for each and every device you have (Phone, iPad, Laptop, etc) and don’t forget the outlet adaptors for the country you’re heading to.

MP3 Player

In case you’re stuck indoors, you might want to consider taking something to kill the time. Load up your phone with a fresh stack of beats!

Laptop / iPad

So you can check all your social media accounts, watch a movie, and of course upload all your awesome action pictures.

Because winter sun still burns, and you don’t want your face to be peeling during a blizzard. Seriously, you don’t. While you’re there, don’t forget the necessary toiletries!

So there you have it, the ultimate travel checklist for your next snow trip. I bet you’re excited now, aren’t you? Bring on the snow!
