14 February 2018 3:29:45 pm AEDT

Making his third Olympic appearance, two time World Champ snowboarder Scotty James has fought his way through the men's final picking up the bronze medal after laying down a score of 92.00.

It was another big day for the Aussies with 2 athletes in the big final of the halfpipe. The wind had died down since yesterday and the pipe was in great condition.

First up for was Australian Kent Callister competing in his second olympics. After a solid first run he put in a strong second run that secured a top 10 finish.

It was pretty clear early on that all eyes would be on Scotty James (Australia) Shaun White (USA) and Ayumu Hirano (Japan) for the top spots!

Scotty came out hard and put in a very strong first run to leave him sitting second after round one.

Round two saw Ayumu take the lead from White and then it all came down to the final run. Ayumu failed to improve on his round two score which gave Scotty a chance.

He put down two solid airs but unfortunate on his third jump landed a little flat and lost his edge sending him crashing into the wall! Then it all came down to White! He had to beat 95.25 to secure the gold!

The 31 year old look stylish throughout and under pressure put in a massive 97.75 to take the win with the last run of the day.

Another medal for the Aussies was cause for celebration.

This medal makes Australian Winter Olympic history - Scotty is the first Aussie man to grab an Olympic medal for halfpipe, and only the second Australian after his mentor and Winter Gold medallist Torah Bright.
