Countdown to Pyeongchang

51 Australians have been prepped and readied to take on elite athletes from around the world in a total of 15 disciplines, after fighting to prove themselves at the highest levels over the past few years.

Within the team we have a range of experience, from the legendary Lydia Lassila, heading into her fifth Olympics in Aerials, to the likes of Jakara Anthony and fellow moguller Claudia Gueli, who will both debut in their first Olympic games after impressive runs in the World Championships.

However, if you simply cannot wait until the veil lifts over Korea’s mountains, don’t fret as the first events actually begin tomorrow, the 7th of February, two days before the opening ceremony.

Opening the show will be Ski Jumping followed by Luge, with the Women’s Biathlon beginning under lights in the evening.

For the green and gold Alex Ferlazzo will be opening the campaign with the Luge, the 22 year old will be attending his second Olympics after debuting in Sochi 2014 and we’ll be looking out for him in his adrenaline pumping event.

We’ll have to wait to find out who’s granted the honour of flag bearer, but with a strong Aussie team it’s looking likely to be a thrilling few weeks for us in PyeongChang.
